    The department of Mechanical Engineering cultivates professional engineers required in the mechanical field, the foundation for industry. There are various well-organized programs in place designed to educate professionals with all the instruction necessary in the modern field of Mechanical Engineering. Students are instructed on everything from the basic principles to applied technologies in the areas of state-of-the-art mechanical engineering (including CAE, CNC, and PLC) as well as process and production control, where theoretical education is combined with experience through practical training experiments.

This department focuses on the theory and practice of "Mechatronics", a word coined in Korea which combines the development of machines and electronics and the advanced, complex integration of the technology of both.

    The Department of Ship and Ocean Systems has been the mainspring of Korean shipbuilding manufacturer's success in the world market. This department develops the most capable engineers in design, construction, and maintenance of sea-going vessels. The curriculum employs theoretical study and 'hands-on' experimentation to educate students in the basic principles of naval architecture, ship structure, and dynamics of the maritime industry.

    In order to respond to the requirement of human resources from the automobile industry which is located in the Kyoeng-In District, making use of highly technological equipment, the department instructs students in the essential theories for use in the automobile industry including electronic engine controls, automatic accelerators, 2- or 3-dimensional automobile design, and sensors. Students in this department design a car and take part in various automobile design circles, contests, and competitions.     Department of Electrical Information & Science aims to train specialist-engineers in the fields of information technology and automation based on electric engineering.     Department of Information and Communication Engineering focuses on the basic engineering theories of electronic engineering, electric circuitry, and electric magnetics, to allow students to acquire knowledge on computer hardware and programing languages (visual C, JAVA, JSP etc.), enabling them to make the most effective use of the computer. This department aims to foster technicians with the abilities required to take charge of all aspects of information & telecommunication operations including information network design, maintenance and management of information & telecommunication equipment, as well as integrated information processing.

    In response to the 'New Growth Power Project for Next Generation IT' propelled by government-enterprise cooperation to upgrade the competitive advantage of the Korean IT industry, the Department of Computer Systems & Engineering focuses on producing human resources with the competitive and practical abilities to excel in the field of "Ubiquitous IT". To accomplish this, courses on such subjects as embedded systems, computer systems, system software, mobile services, "Ubiquitous Networks", security networks, RFID/USN, and web services are taught.

    Department of Aerial Geoinformatics, the first of its kind in Korea, was established in 1992 as a specific educational academy to introduce and teach GIS (Geographic Information System) in our country. By industry-academic cooperation with a lot of companies dealing with GIS, the department opens a course of practical education necessary for the industry, making use of advanced devices and softwares to let students learn GIS, long-distance inspection, numerical map-making, photographic measurement, GPS and LBS.

The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering focuses on metallography, material science, metal materials, electronic materials as basic theories of metal and other materials, and cultivates capable technicians required by industry through experiments and practical experience with CAD, CATIA, casting, plating, material testing, and heat treating.

    The department of Airline Service Management aims to cultivate experts required by air transportation business and its related industries, teaching students how to serve airline passengers in English, Japanese, and Chinese languages. Its students are taught practical knowledge of reservations, ticketing, transportation, and baggage handling by using an online system linked to Korea Air. In addition, students are taught proper manners and how to use state-of-the-art office automation to give them the competitive edge in this information-oriented society.

    The department of Tourism Management, which started as an tourism-specific education center in 1983, is equipped with laboratories for the study of tourism, airline industry, hotel industry and foreign languages. Its twenty excellent professors cultivate tourism professionals through classroom theory and practical experience. At present, 2,800 Inha's Department of Tourism alumni play a leading role in Korea's inbound and outbound tourism industry. In particular, the Department of Tourism focuses on foreign language skills development, as well as the development of practical skills required in the tourism industry.

    Basic courses in theory, skill and moulding will provide the foundation for creating fashion designers of the new millennium.
